Days out with the kids over Easter

I've been looking for some new places to go with Reece over the Easter Holidays, found this, there are actually one or two on here that we've never been to, the others are well recommended

Re: Days out with the kids over Easter

Am a Registered Childminder and constantly on the look out for cheap and fun things to stimulate and entertain my charges.

Can recommend Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. Although parking is expensive the entrance is free and there is an indoor eating area if whether is bad. My three boys (my sons 2, 5 and 7) love it as it has trains, an underground sewer and the top floor is a children's museum with lots of hands on fun.

Depends on budget. The free/low cost things I know of are that Accy Library have two sessions for Spots 30th Birthday. One is for pre-schoolers and is party activities and the other is for primary school age children. This is on over hols and is free.

Global Conference Centre (previously The Hope Centre) are running their kids clubs throughout the first week of Easter, except the Bank Hol Monday. It is only low cost and thinking of taking my boys there as there is also a toddler group for little ones at same time.

Favourite days out for us are; Thompson (not Townley) Park in Burnley - we love the little train and river and paddling pool and boating lake. Eureka in Halifax. Expensive entry for covered for the whole year and well worth every penny (more fun if you go on train as train station is closer than the car park!). Thornton Hall Farm on the way to Skipton. Great indoor play area if whether not to good and a fab whizzick ride. Blackpool Zoo - more fun if you can get ten or more as mega discount for a group and you get a one-to-one hands on session with the creepy crawlies. Have been known to stand outside and accost strangers so that we could get group discount!

Our favourite swim is Wavelengths in Nelson where a family ticket is only £10 and under threes are free. They have parking, wave pool, flume & unisex changing rooms. Though gets crowded on bad weather days.

Sadly, too many indoor activities come with a heavy price & is age dependent.

HAVE TO AGREE ON THE MOSI, we've been too much and Reece doesn't like going anymore because he's seen it all, we used to go every few weeks, i on the other hand love going, its a great day out, if you're going on the train, from Blackburn change at Bolton and then get off at Oxford Road and there is a free bus right to the mosi door

Re: Days out with the kids over Easter

We took Emily to Bowland Wold Boar park on mothers day and she loved it, she's still rabbiting on about holding a baby chick now!!! Under 2's are free and dependant on when you go (out of season is cheaper) adults are £4.50. There are quite a few animals to see and you can feed quite a few of them too, including bottle feeding lambs and holding the afore mentioned chicks!!!
