Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun

I'm all for being critical when I feel it is warrented, but of course this, or any event, isn't going to interest everyone, but I'm sure a lot of folk will find something of interest here on Saturday.

There's nothing stopping other people getting off their arses to organise public events, that they and other people may enjoy.

Beer festivals, Dinky car exhibitions, topless darts, if that's your bag. The only thing stopping you is apathy.

But I've got to admit you've gone overboard yet again to put together an afternoon that really does make us blokes want to dash out and join you in these enthralling events. I personally will spend the afternoon counting how many grains of rice I can push up my nose before I have to swallow, (maybe it's not what you call art but I bet I could get a grant for it!).

Now in future could you please not put T' and I in the same category, I will tolerate these none events he can't stand them, I will always tease you given the chance because I think you can, (given time), realise that's what I'm doing.

So far as spending time drinking? I am always grateful to the woman that drove me to it.
Ok, I sort of accept that I reacted at Tealeaf's post and you got dragged into it - however, this is in no way, shape or form, an apology!

If you want the absolute truth, I'm getting tired of having to continually defend myself. I'm not starting fights, taking people for money they can't afford or selling drugs - I am putting on arts events. I am then taking the time to tell the local population about these arts events so that the people who are interested can come along and enjoy them. Imagine the waste of money if I put them on and no one came!

Yes, it may be overboard, but why the heck not! It's not meant to be serious, it's fun - fun is right there in the title.

As for the rice thing - you should have made that suggestion in Tinkerbelle's Children in Need thread - we could have had a sponsored 'how many grains of rice can Less stick up his nose' event, a bit like 'how many sweets in a jar' sort of thing.

Did I ask for an apology? no! Do I want an apology? no! Do I expect an apology? No, no, no!

I didn't say it to get you to start a fight, I said it because usually Gayle can have a laugh, what do I do from now on? Oh I'll not tease Gayle she doesn't like it or do I tease Gayle and remind her she has a good sense of humour, (for a woman!).

Perhaps as well because you're not going to get one!

Them what likes it can go to it, them what doesn't can stay at home or go somewhere else - no problem there. Is there?

Normally of a Saturday I'd be in Blackburn not doing Irish dancing but this weekend it's off so I am free to participate in other thngs, or not, as the case may be.

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun

I have no problem about staying at home or even of this event taking place in t'Town Hall; my concern is that this is publicly funded and that it is not the first time this has happened this year. It appears to be a sequel to the 'International Wimmins Week bash' which occured only a few months ago.

In my opinion the taxpayer has more important prioritities than subsidising Japanese kite flying, lesbian basket weaving or African hair curling, or whatever multi-cultural clap-trap happens to be on this weeks menu.

If we are to have such subsidised events, then surely we should have one for the blokes, just to even things up? Could not the town hall be taken over one saturday, so that we could see, amongst other things: model train layouts, a mini beer festival, footy cards and programme swapping and maybe up one corner, some pole-dancing and stripping action by the fairer sex?

Haven't there been beer festivals?

How about the other ideas Gayle? Would females be allowed to see the train sets T?

So go ahead and organise one! No one's stopping you!

The group that have organised this event are Hyndburn Women's Forum - so naturally, it is going to have a bias towards events targeted at women! You want a men's group and you want men's events so go on and do it! I won't object.

Thats not likely to happen is it Gayle. Several people on this forum have at a moan at you before for organising events, especially when they are female biased. If they were so concerned they would get off their backsides an organise something themselves. They complain about it being a waste of public money when I would guess you have tapped into some lottery fund or another that anyone could could apply for.

I am fairly sure though Gayle that if they did organise something you would keep your gob shut and not criticize their hard work. I can imagine how much time and effort you have put into this event, its a shame others can't.

Your right Neil. I feel ashamed of myself for antagonising Gayle for her efforts. I admit I have been biased and should have known better.

By the way, I hope you get you funding.........

Neil is obviously going for this weeks Champion sycrophant award. Good Luck! However, he obviously believes that lottery money grows on trees, simply to be doled out to whoever is best at completing the good causes application form. Sorry Neil - that money has come out of peoples' pockets. When it is spent, I for one would like to see it spent on something lasting and worthwhile, other than useless Domes, elitist Opera Houses and tendy women's knees-ups.
