African head wrapping - does that mean we can have our heads wrapped?

What the heck is Environmental arts? and why does it need two mentions?
It's o.k. no need to answer, I googled for it basically mini panopticons!

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Less, Tealeaf - what is your problem?
All I'm doing is putting on an event that might appeal to some members of the community - clearly not you - but then again not everyone likes to spend all their spare hours in the pub!
Every time I put a thread on about an arts event you have a go at me. Other people, on the other hand, complain that there isn't enough arts provision in the area. This event is bringing something fun into the area - just because you don't like it (or don't understand it) doesn't make it less valid.
From what I understand, I posted this thread in the Nightlife and Events section of the forum. It was to inform people, who might be interested, that something was going on. If I hadn't have posted it how would people know what was happening?
PS - yes, it was a typo about the Environmental arts going on twice.

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Gayle I applaud your efforts and I really do believe that these shows serve as a valued service to those with a bent for it, so please don’t take this response to be totally negative.
Now then, £13 to spend the afternoon in the ****ing rain freezing my nuts off with a load of nosey sods and a couple of dodgy birds, eating manky beef burgers and no bloody ale to wash it all down
Or
The nice company of Accrington’s fashion set in the dry halls of the Town Hall?
If you want my company Gayle I’ll see you at the Clayton End. Bring all your friends with you.

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Well, I can't speak for Less - but I don't have a go at you every time you highlight an arts event on here. I only do it some of the time - and this is one of them. As far as I'm concerned, art is something that looks pretty enough to hang on your wall or something that stops you in your tracks and makes you think.
"African Head Wrapping" does not fall into either of these categories, unless of course, it is an exercise in making a shrunken head to bung on top of your spear. For reasons of political correctness, this sounds unlikely. I suspect that this is all to do with wrapping a colourful piece of cloth around your head; what releveance this has to the people of Accy, I simply do not know.
How much is this lot costing, anyway?

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
And that's absolutely fine Doug. Not everyone likes everything - it would be a dull world if we did but some people don't seem to accept that!
All I'm doing is putting on a colourful event with lots of different activities going on. I could put the same old boring thing on time after time - do we really want Chas 'n Dave or Meat Loaf tribute acts on every week?
Football's great - I like it myself - but I also like other things and shock horror, a lot of people don't like football at all!!! What are they to do with their Saturday afternoons?

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Tealeaf's only bitter that the free refreshments and snacks won't be good old British food.
I think it sounds great, and more power to you Gayle for getting off your arse, securing funding and putting something on in what otherwise would be an empty Town Hall on a Saturday afternoon.

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Oh, yes, I forgot the food - there is some traditional English food - cornish pasties if anyone's a bit peckish. We thought it would make a change.

I think Teabag is really a performance artist.

Re: Fashion, Fabric and Fun
Actually, we could go and have a go at wrapping heads, have some grub, wish Gayle well and still get to the Crown for one or two before Kick off. We could make a day of it I suppose.

Not wanting to jump to the gentleman’s defence at all, but isn’t this a little bit like the “Pot calling the Kettle”
