Re: Hyndburn Mela

If anyone does decide to come to the mela come and find me and say hello - I'd like to put faces to names.

Re: Hyndburn Mela

Tricky question - I will be moving around a lot. I'll have an organisers pass on. I'll be wearing jeans and a bluish top.

Re: Hyndburn Mela

The kids had to come home to make a sandwich before going up to the park. They think they'll die of starvation otherwise. We'll be off up there shortly. Hope it stays fine.

Er, that's a really good description Gayle. Dare I approach everyone in jeans and bluish top looking for their organisers pass?

Re: Hyndburn Mela

So what did you think? I saw a couple of you and a couple more that I didn't get chance to talk to.

I'm really tired now. I think it was a good event. No trouble, good bands, great crowd - fantastic food. Plus, we did it on a tighter budget than we thought we were going to have which worked out ok.

Sorry I missed it, but gayle you seem to have worked hard to promote the event, so I must say well done, and hope that every one enjoyed it.

Re: Hyndburn Mela

I have to agree with Gayle, it was a good afternoon. I went for a couple of hours and enjoyed every minute of it. The music was very good for the most part if a little loud for my ageing ears. Gayle was a delight to meet and I’m sure she is knackered because she was working very hard for all concerned. Not to sure about the food, I’ll let you know tomorrow? I would have liked to have seen a few more waist bins around and more people using them other than that enjoyable.

Re: Hyndburn Mela

We didn't manage to find you Gayle but we did all get a mendhi design on our arms. (The two youngest are now sporting very attractive lizards.) We saw the MPA stall in a tent just as things were being packed up.

The music was excellent and the accoustics were brilliant for an open air event. We had a good old sing along to the Bob Marley songs.

I think the kids overloaded on burgers, samosas, icecream and coke! When they asked for candy floss too I drew the line.

Kipax has some pictures on his site if you'd care to look.

You had a good sunny day for it.

Re: Hyndburn Mela

It was a very nice day for it Rindy, The cloud thickened up a little mid afternoon but soon burnt off. I’ve had a look at Kipax’s photos earlier, as always colourful and interesting, wish I had spotted him. I took a few shot’s but their not that good……I didn’t think I would have enjoyed it really but I was quite surprised by how good the music was. Gayle, is it possible to see if something like this could be done for the youth of Accy, new and amateur bands looking to get there music heard….A party in the Park type thing?
