July 10 - Blackpool Flypast - VE & VJ Commemorations

VE & VJ Commemorations will be taking place all over Lancashire. You might be interested to note that on Sunday 10th July 2005 Blackpool will be commemorating with a limited Flypast of World War Two and modern aircraft, including displays by the Red Arrows and the British Army’s Blue Eagles Helicopter display team.

The Flying display will take place over Central Promenade at approximately 15:40 hrs. Aircraft will include: Spitfire, Hurricane, Hawk, Harrier and Tucano as well as the Red Arrows and Blue Eagles Helicopter display teams. It should be noted that Aircraft and Time are subject to change.

The Red Arrows are expected to arrive at Squires Gate at 15:13 and display over the prom at 17:58 hrs and will then stay over night and depart Squires Gate at 12:30 hrs on Sunday the 11th July 2005. If anyone just wants to see the aircraft taking off, I would suggest the sand hills opposite the Pontins Holiday Camp, you can get good s view down the runway with aircraft flying low level and over head. You might also consider the back of the industrial site to see aircraft movements and landing.

Terrorist Activity is not expected, but large crowds of people both Holiday makers and locals will be swelling the Promenade so there is always a risk of some a***hole wanting to make a point. Watch the kids and take care of you valuables and have a good and safe day.

What a cracking day out it was! The Red Arrows and Tornado were VERY loud but excellent to watch. They even made a heart in the sky with an arrow through it just for me I WISH lol!

Will post any pics that have turned out well when my camera battery has charged.

Re: July 10 - Blackpool Flypast - VE & VJ Commemorations

I didn’t, I had a day cleaning the car, First time since I bought it in February. Disgrace I know, it had half the Lake District in it. I was hot has hell and I didn’t fancy the crowds. I was over flown by the Spitfire and three or four Hawks of the Red Arrows; I did spend a little time hanging out the bedroom window to see the display. Pleased you enjoyed it Tinks, looking forward to seeing some photos. Did anyone else come over?

Yes I did across from Pontins, I could see right down the runway from were I was stood.

Bloody sand dunes are a real sun trap though I got very burnt even with sunblock on.
I had to laugh at some silly lads messing with a few glider typer kites on the beach. They were right in the jets flight path, I was waiting for them to get sucked out to sea but the beach patrol saved them in time lol!

I found a secluded spot and went topless, so I'm on one of the pics, you'll just have to look a little closer!
