Re: Oswaldtwistle Carnival
More information
Sunday 22nd June 12 noon onwards
Oswaldtwistle Carnival
The procession starts at 12 noon at Vine Mill and travels along Union Road to The Civic Arts Centre. The procession will be lead by Accrington Pipe Band and features around 30 floats or walking groups.
Once at Lord Street, walkers will head up to Rhyddings Park for the fun day. There will be three performance areas with live music and entertainment throughout the afternoon. There will be a fairground, puppet shows, pony rides, lots of community stalls and an international food area.
Live music and entertainment starts at 1pm and includes East Lancashire Concert Band, Sandersons Dance, Skoot and CAST singing groups and much, much more. In the Marquee local musicians The Itch will be the headline acts and on the StarTruck stage Reece Bibby will headline. In the final performance area EL cheerleaders will entertain and the young people from the Civic Arts Centre will perform short excerpts from their Accrington Pals tribute.
This event has been organised by the local community coming together to make this happen.
The Prince and Princesses will be announced at a family event on Friday 6th June at the Civic Arts Centre. The Mayor will be in attendance. The Prince and Princesses will be part of the Carnival procession and will ride along Union Road in open topped cars. The girls will also have their hair done on the morning of the Carnival by local hairdresser Gemma Brown.
We expect it will be a big event and we hope the whole of Oswaldtwistle comes out to support it. Road closures will take effect from around 11.30am to about 1.30pm.
