Re: Parkinson's Disease Society new local group
On behalf of Parkinson's UK I'd like to thank andrewb for a very kind donation.
It's much appreciated.
Besides support and information, Parkinson's UK funds a great deal of groundbreaking research, which means there are new treatments being tested all the time, and the very real possibility of a cure, in the not too distant future, for this degenerative illness, for which at present there is no cure.
Literally every penny counts for us, so Andrew, many thanks for your generous donation to us.

Re: Parkinson's Disease Society new local group
The next meeting of the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Parkinson’s support group will be on Saturday 8th January, 2011, starting at 11.30 until 1.30 pm.
Our post-Christmas party will have a catered lunch, and we’ll be entertained by classical guitarist Robin Hill, who’s played with everyone from Pavarotti to Deep Purple.

A warm welcome extended to anyone whose life has been effected by Parkinson’s disease

We had Hearn's last year, but the other committee members asked my brother, after sampling the stuff my mum brings for our normal Jacob's join.
So Martin's.
Though he's going overboard to show off his wares, so it's doubtful there'll be much profit.
We've already had one trip, to fill our locker in the Town Hall kitchen, with tablecloths, gold plates, and napkins.
If it snows I'll be dragging people in from the streets, for a free nosh.

Re: Parkinson's Disease Society new local group
The Lancashire and South Cumbria Neurolgical Alliance are hosting a meeting in Lancaster on March 11th.
This will be a chance for national and local politicans to meet people with neurological diseses, and better understand the challenges faced.
It will hopefully lead to their support when lobbying for continued research, and disability rights.
I received a note from Parkinson's UK head office this morning, and I was genuinley very pleased to read that Graham Jones will hopefully be able to attend this event.
Sadly because of work commitments, or medical appointments no other member of the committee of the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley support group will be able to attend.
Since I can't drive that far, and fear using the train, if it's a bad walking day, I'm struggling to say how I'll get there, but will do everything in my power to be there too.
On behalf of the local group Graham, thank you for indicating you'll try and be there. It is appreciated.

That's kind, thank you.
Been contacted by Graham's office, and depending on whether he's driving there, or form where, there might be the possibility of a lift there.
If not, I'll get some roller skates, and set off tomorrow.

I've just had a message from Graham.
He's kindly offered to give me a lift.
Much appreciated.
Thank you.

It is.
To be honest, I was stuck. Everyone else was working, or had appointments that can't be changed.
Normally our chair Wendy Dwyer will drive anywhere, but she has council stuff she's tied to.
I think it's important Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley has some representation.
Can't promise much, other than I'll try my best to explain what living with a degenerative, incurable neurological disease is like.
The offer of a lift is very kind.

Cheers Cashy.
Take it you're not going to Morecambe then, you could have dropped me off.
