Possibly Another night club?
http://www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/...club_plan.html
Iv'e been abit lazy and not read the TOC stuff so if im not allowed to post links i apologise in advance
Alltho its far from a certain thing that the night spot may open i allready have my reservations about this, what u guys think?
"The first phase would see the top floor of the building become a nightclub"
The second would create a multi-purpose function room to be used for exhibitions, dances, amateur dramatics, jazz nights, shows and teenage discos."
I have posted the quotes in case the links get moved or deleted.

Re: Possibly Another night club?
Sounds good - the more night life the better! I'm not too certain where you mean though, I know the old McDonalds is now a bar called 'Upsies' which is pretty good. They also do functions etc. Last time I was there they were having a Body Shop Party.
PS - I dont think there is a problem posting links either.

Is it where the snooker hall (Elite?) used to be many years ago.

lol that sounds liek a sweetner to make the idea more appealing to the council so they will allow another night club
if memory serves me correctly quite a few people tried getting permision to make a night club out of what is now teh italian resturant on church street and were turned down every tiem by teh council because they said we have enough pubs and clubs
lets face it realisticly
accrington is a sh*t hole to drink in and most people drink out of town because the beer is better and the atmosphere is friendlier
long gone are the days when you couldnt move at teh bar on sunday nights and friday and saturdays are mostly like drinking in a ghost town
its a poor state of affairs when peoipel actualy goto burnley folra night out instead of accy
mind you 90% of accringtons drinking is done on teh streets by teenage kids
all another night club will give accrington is another place to get your head kicked in lol

Re: Possibly Another night club?
I disagree Chav1. I go into town a lot, infact most weekends and I enjoy my nights out in Accrington. I actually choose to go to Accrington rather than Blackburn or Burnley as I dont like the atmosphere out of town. In Accy I am guaranteed to see and speak to people I 'know' (just from going into town and being a friendly sort of person who will speak to anyone!).
I feel safe in my local town, on my own territory with home just a five minute walk up the road.
There will always be places that are 'rough', Burnley and Blackburn are no exception. Just this Saturday some idiot decided to put his fist through the window of the Arcade Bar and an ambulance was called out, that doesn't just happen in Accy. It happens everywhere where booze and p*ss heads are mixed together.
Accy has a busy little night life, the Bridge was packed on Saturday just gone. I believe Sunday's aren't what they used to be in town, however Thursday is the new Sunday apparently.
Get yourself into town one night Chav1, I'll give you a guided tour and I promise you a good night out

When you say that Accy is a sh*t hole, i havev to disagree. Granted it's not the best, but come on, to call it a sh*t hole is a bit much. I believe that 3 pubs (Baileys, Bee's Knee's & Warners) are all having re-furbs in January.
Of coarse there is an amount of idiots, but this is the same in most towns. The fact of the matter is that, Accington is a small town so the idiots seem to stand out a lot more.
As for the teenagers drinking in the town centre, well that's up to the police to sort out. I personally feel that if the kids were removed, then town would attact more people.

Re: Possibly Another night club?
I agree with what Chav said about Accy being a ghost town these days at the weekends. Most bars are usually half empty, or full of kids. Personally I don't mind Accy, it used to be a good night out. Unfortunately the interest seems to have died off and people are travelling further afield.
I think if Accy had a few more pubs and a decent nightclub then people may start to stay local and return it to what it used to be like.

If everybody thought like this, would you open a pub/club in Accrington? My guess is that you wouldn't. One of the other questions that needs to be asked, is would the Council allow it. It's already been mentioned in this thread, that HBC knocked back a proposal to convert Papa Luigi's.
Accrington isn't a ghost town at the weekends, it just gets busy a lot later than it used to.

You're right AccyJay, in my 'younger' days I'd be out at half 7/8pm. Nowadays I'll stay in the Accy Stanley Club House or go up Peel Park and not get into town til about 10. Town is dead earlier on but livens up after 10. Best pubs to go in earlier on are the outskirts of town, Calder or Black Horse.

Re: Possibly Another night club?
It also depends on what night you go out. On a Thursday night Bee's Knee's is busy from about 9:30 pm until 11:30pm, but at a pound a pint, this is hardly suprising. On friday night the only pub in the town centre to be busy earlier is Bailey's, normally busy from 9:30 until about 12:30am, Bailey's is 60's, 70's & 80's music all night on a friday. As stated earlier by "Kisser", Calder is usually the busiest early on in the evening.
