At last after four years my fame as a cuisine critique is showing a return,
way back in October 2003 I posted a thread about the
Monte Cristo - Pizzeria Ristorante.
Today I was invited to the Bridge inn at Church to sample the food now being supplied in Vicky's' Kitchen, quite a few of the long term members may remember Vicky she used to help her Dad, Peter run the Oak Tree Pub on Blackburn Rd at the time we had our very first 'meet' there. ( It was Christmas time and we had a raffle, more prizes than members where present but we still had a good time).
Anyway Vicky is now cooking a large range of meals for Amanda, (the landlady), and I was asked to sample the menu.
Vicky starts the day at 10.30 Tuesday to Saturday with a range of breakfasts including tea or coffee, then from 12.00 until 2.00 and again 4.00 until 7.00 with a variety of dishes to satisfy most palettes.
Being the sort of person that I am I looked through the menu and decided to take advantage of an 8oz Gammon steak with chips and peas, topped with a slice of pineapple, (I could have had egg, but decided that as everyone has their own favourite way an egg should be cooked, (I like mine runny, ask and she'll do it the way you want), I would go for something simplistic).
when, my food arrived it was attractive to the eye and filled the plate. The Gammon was tender with the rind just crisp enough to enjoy, the chips? well what can you say about chips? I am used to chips that are black on the outside and raw in the centre, (but that's enough about my personal culinary skills), hers were crisp and tasty and a pleasure to eat), The peas? well what can we say about peas like everyone else I eat them because they are put in front of me rather than for pleasure, perhaps instead, mixed veg' with baby corn? (just a suggestion).
It was however an enjoyable experience and I look forward to sampling perhaps the 'spag bol' or maybe one of the bar snacks such as the jacket potato's, or one of the 'toasties' on offer.
I quite enjoyed the role of 'sampler', so if there are any of you out there that also do meals and would like to have the 'Less' seal of approval, please feel free to P.M. me, just remember, I require many meals per week so the more of you that offer the more I'll enjoy it.
As for The Bridge and Vicky's Kitchen, if you would like a menu I can P.M. it to you, I am not putting prices on site as this is a revue not an advert. (Having said that, Vicky has offered a 5% discount to any or all accyweb members and their guests that turn up for a meal with a copy of the:-
'Vicky Voucher'
from now until the 21st of August 2007 which is attached to the end of the menu.
