Quazfest IV

This year's Quazfest (the 6th) is looking like it's building up to be an absolute belter. To be held at The Kestrel Suite, Cow lane (just behind The Falcon) Burnley, on Saturday 11th August, it's the biggest line up of entertainment we've ever put on!

To start with, we see the welcome return of Astral Circus (balloons, knives, fire.....and an 8ft pink flamingo!).
Last year this quietly spoken, gentleman of a guy had been booked to do 4 different visual acts between bands at the very last minute due to the cancelation of an acrobatic act and his first act was to be a balloon shaping act. Bit of a strange act to do in front of metal heads, punks, rockers and bikers, but on he went regardless. As soon as he blew the first balloon up, someone heckled him from the crowd. A few twists of the balloon, and he'd made a type of hat that he cooly placed on the head of the offending heckler. It had a penis and two balls attached to the front of it. The crowd loved it, the offending heckler was put well and truly in his place. Astral Circus had arrived! The rest of his balloon act had people fascinated. All these rough, tough, leather clad rockers were actualy sat on the floor, cross legged, watching him like little kids. We're not talking the usual sausage dog or giraffe balloon modeling that you see almost every clown do, this guy made a rabbit riding a Harley Davidson motorbike....AND YOU COULD TELL IT WAS A HARLEY DAVIDSON!!! He went on to amaze the audience with his 8ft pink flamingo, (I kid you not) and other highlights included juggling while stood on a huge ball, knife juggling over the face of a terrified Boozy Gutful, (which was hilarious) and a fire juggling/dance act that just blew everyone away.
Back by popular demand after last year, this one man circus will again be doing several different acts to delight the audience, both young and old, in between bands throughout the day and night.

At Quazfest, we always like to give new bands a fair go and this year will be no exception. The first band on will be Rapid Fire from the Rawtenstall area, who's drummer is only 9 years old but already quite an accomplished musician. Following them will be Halo, an exellent brand new band from Colne playing their first ever gig.

After these two newcomers have wet the audience's appetites, it's time for the first of the three tribute bands in this year's line up, Fantera, a tribute to Pantera. These guys have actually played Quazfest before, three years ago at Quazfest III under the name of Antimony where they all proved themselves to be very competent musicians indeed. Now they're back with a new name, different act and a whole new attitude. Slack Babbath like these guys so much, they introduced them to their mate Steve at Viper Music & Productions, who was so impressed with what he heard, he signed them up immediately.

SeeM are a fast paced local metal band with melody. Similar to Killswitch Engage and All That Remains, but with heavier influences. They've played some top gigs in places like Manchester, Warrington and Chorley and have an EP available called 'SeeM' costing a mere £1. SeeM put on an energetic live performance and never fail to entertain a crowd.

Rollin Thunder are promising to be a real treat for this year's Quazfest audience. Championed by Ferne Cotton of Radio 1 fame, this Merseyside metal act have recently been touring with legendary British rockers Diamond Head and will be promoting their brand new debut album Two Worlds, prepare to be impressed and watch out for them in the future, we expect big things from this band.

Green Date have been described as the 'world's ultimate tribute to the American punk sensation Green Day!' and that's no exaggeration. They have performed all around the UK to audiences of up to 3000 people and have also played in Europe several times. Green Date's lead singer recently turned down a spot on the ITV show "Stars In Their Eyes"
They've also been recognized and described by the real Green Day as "Its like looking in a recorded mirror!" You certainly can't say fairer than that.

And finally, on to the headliners and hosts for Quazfest, Burnley's very own Slack Babbath, the UK's number one Black Sabbath tribute and widely regarded and respected as the most authentic sounding tribute to Sabbath around. Featuring Quazi Washboard, Tony I'm Lonely, Boozy Gutful and Psycho Ward, in the past 8 years they've played in London, Scotland and everywhere in-between, perfecting a show that just has to be seen to be believed.
