Tesco Public Art

The new Tesco store will have some public art outside it. You are all invited to comment on the proposals for artwork at a public consultation.

I have been asked to post the attached flyer.

Re: Tesco Public Art

How about a bronze statue of Peter to celebrate his 30 years serving Hyndburn as a local Councillor?

Re: Tesco Public Art

Is this 'public art' just one of the sweeteners that Tesco undertook to provide, in order to get planning permission?

Not that I mind if it was - I won't be viewing it - just hope that it doesn't resemble legalised grafitti, for the sake of the people who will.

Re: Tesco Public Art

Maybe they want Hyndburn to be the Uk's answer to Denver International airport

The 'art' there is aggressively disturbing

Thank the lord I won't be viewing it either, you can bet the person at 29, Eagle Street will have plenty to say if it doesn't fit his criteria. Why oh why do they insist on further desecreating the buildings round that area with modern art??? There are some lovely buildings being overshadowed, why not build structures in keeping with the area????

I am also cynical about Tesco's motives for this project.

Art is a very personal thing......and Street Art usually falls into two camps...the bizarre and the dire. Asking for community input is a ploy to let the community think it has some sort of say
I will await developments.
