The Da Vinci Code

Ok, know most of you will have read the book, but who now can't wait to see the film. 'Moi'.

Hate to brag .... however ... will ... was in Cannes the night they premiered it. Was only 300 yards from the stars (not that you would even get a glimpse mind ya').

Once I sort out me photos, might even share a shot of the black pyramid marquee they put up to symbolise it.

Going to see it in Burnley with the missus on Friday; really hope it doesn't let the book down.
Does anyone know if the first book - Angles & Demons - is included in the film?

Yes, I'll be going to see it but I always have mixed feelings about seeing the film of books that I've enjoyed. They rarely do them justice.

Good examples the other year when Captain Corelli's Mandolin came out. I thought that book was amazing but then slimy Nicholas Cage and long-necked Cruz completely ruined it for me.

Books are so personal, you can imagine your own hero (even if the description doesn't totally match), and you see everything through your own imagination but with a film you are seeing the Director's interpretation and it's never quite the same.

Having said that, I'll definitely see it.

That's true Gayle, but curiosity will get the better of me, I'm afraid. For instance, never really saw Tom Hanks playing the lead, however, he has developed into an extremely creditable film actor, so will reserve judgement.

P.S. Nicholas Cage .. 'slimy' ?? corr .. I think he is a dish ! Good job we all 'aint got the same taste in men though, eh ? tee hee.

I took my girls to see it at Accy Vue last night. It's not a bad film but obviously not as good as the book .... they never are, are they?

When I was reading the book, I had an actor in mind who looks a lot like Dan Brown, but I can't remember his name.

He's a bit like Sam Neill. Anyone able to help me because it's driving me mad!

...and you came back to sunny Lancashire?

I thought you might have woken up on a big yacht sailing away into the sunset.

Went to see it last night at Blackburn Vue. I didn't think it was as good as the book, probably for the reasons Gayle explained. I already had images of the characters in my mind and the cast didn't quite fit. Tom Hanks just isn't Robert Langdon. I was glad to see Roslyn but still want to go and see it in person one day. I've wanted to go for years but never got there yet. Last summer we almost managed it but couldn't go in because there was something going on.
