Re: Victoria Baths, Manchester.

Is it safe to dive in? Why were slipper baths so-called?

They were shaped like a big slipper, with a raised end.

Victoria Baths, Manchester.

Went today - very interesting place and brilliant that a group of volunteers have managed to keep the place going!
Photo here showing one of the amazing windows. (This was of course a runner up on that fabulous "Restoration" programme from a few years back.

Re: Victoria Baths, Manchester.

went there years ago when it was one of the contendors in bbc restoration. I put leaflets through lots of neighbours doors to muster support/votes. I thought it won. It also featured in the life on mars series - spotted it in first shot or two. Is a fab place - baths that is not mars! ! ! Would defo go again
