Cool A Conundrum.

A train leaves a station at 64 mph, travels 230.4 miles and crashes into the buffers at the end.

As the train leaves the station a super fly sat on the buffers sets off at 93 mph, touches the buffers at the other end turns round and races back to the train, touches the train’s buffers turns round and races back and forth until it is squashed between the train and the buffers down the line.

The question is, how far did the fly, fly before being squashed?

This is a theoretical question so please no comments about flies not being able to fly at those speeds nor turn around instantly etc. It’s a simple question that was asked in a school exam 54 years ago. The actual figures may be different to what they were then but otherwise the question is essentially the same.

If you get an answer can you tell us how you got it?

Questions and Answers Feel free to ask any questions about Accrington and the surrounding area and hopefully one of our members can help you out.
I don't even think saying the train is in Accy station would allow it to be in this section.

I remember you abusing one of our members recently for doing the same thing

I put it in this folder, firstly because it is a question, albeit not specifically about Accrington and secondly I just knew that you and one or two others just wouldn’t be able to pass up the chance to point out that I was wrong in some way.

Well done Neil you walked right into that one.I’m splitting my sides laughing.

Also do get your facts right before mouthing off. I have not abused anyone for posting in the wrong folder. I have, however, on occasion drawn people’s attention to the blurp relating to a folder. But hey! Why let the facts get in the way of trying to have yet another dig?

Have you tried growing up?

Nice try but we all know you are not man enough to admit that you are wrong.

334.8 miles. The train takes 3.6hours to hit the buffers and at 93mph thats how far the fly travels
