Re: a dead nite life
come on Neil, you seem to have a lot to say and you seem to like trying to trash this thread, you could at least have the common decency to give your opinion on the matter

I think Gayles idea is ok but you should expand on it a bit and have some secluded tables for those having drinks after work with erm, work friends , when they should really be going home to their wives/husbands.
A few weeks ago when I was working away from home I saw two cars pull up outside the pub we were eating in. A bloke and a lady got out the two cars and came in for a meal. After their meal they went outside got in their cars and drove of in opposite directions

Re: a dead nite life
Assuming you dont want to go for a niche audience (ie lapdancing, casino etc) its a balance between profit and clientele. For example the "Money" people may not bother if a drink is a few pence more than a local pub, but will there be enough of them ? The heavy drinkers may spend a lot, but the margin on drinks would be less. It also depends on whether you expect custom from outside a close geographic area.
I think places which have 2 or more sections in do well, ie the old "bar and lounge" type mentality. You could have one area (usually downstairs) for the mass drinkers and the partiers, and the upstairs as the more sedate place. Food also entices people in if you can get 50-75 covers per night. If you are looking upmarket steer away from themed nights and quizes etc.

Re: a dead nite life
..theres just so much more choice out of accrington nowadays..what with easy access to manchester etc 4 clubs etc..
I think alot of people like accy 4 the cheep drinks and the fact it kicks of on Thurs night. To me it seems like alot of people just want to get out of there faces. Although it looks like there trying to turn this around with wine bars and more restaurants.
..the places in accy r sooo small, using old shop space etc...like dancing in a cupboard that is if there is a place to dance...
..i think someone should bring back a roller rink. Like the one that was at Great Harwood..giving Accrington something different.

Re: a dead nite life
Why would a nightclub work in Accy?? There is infact a "nightclub" in Accy.... Industry. People will not pay to go in a nightclub when 3 pubs are open till 3am.
I'm all for Accy getting better but I just dont think somewhere new will work. We all go to Burnley now. Its brilliant and I dont think anything will be able to compete with it.

Well if I was to open a bar/club it sure as hell wouldn't be in Britain.
