Oh, and my oddity: whenever I open a deck of smokes, I take one cigarette out, and replace it "filter down." This is "my last smoke". And it is the last one that I smoke out of the deck.

Scallies call scallies who don't have a scouse accent, people from St. Helens for instance, 'wooly backs'. Though I've never particulary thought of St. Helens as being some sort of idyllic pastoral pleasureland myself.

Oddly, in Scotland scallies are called 'wee neds', and around the Thames estuary 'townies'.

These names predate the term chav by a generation or so. Which oddly could make them chavs' grandads.
