ASDA Rage

I had run out of essentials so, I called to my local ASDA for some Beluga flavoured crisps.
Upon returning to my van I was met by a disgruntled old pensioner who was struggling between the back of my van and his oversized old Rover to fill his boot with the articles he had purchased.

With a look of hate in his eyes he turned on me, "next time you park up, don't park your van so close to my car, you can see how awkward it is for me, I'm a pensioner".

I looked at him and considered a few choice phrases all ending in 'OFF!'.
However I decided I would instead politely point out a few things in a meaningful & helpful manner, something like this:-

1/ If you would like to get ASDA to widen and lengthen the parking bays then this problem could be eliminated.

2/ If you are struggling, why on earth didn't you jump into your gas guzzler and move forward a couple of feet?

3/ Next time you want to complain get your facts right, I didn't park close to you, YOU parked close to me.
When I parked up I'd driven over the space you are now occupying, I think I would have noticed if you had been there then.

I don't know if he found the advice of any use but he was most complimentary, he expressed concern about my parentage and said that us young un's should have more respect.

The last part really cheered me up.

Re: ASDA Rage

That made my morning, Reece has been brought up to have respect for older people, on buses he automatically gets up for someone older than him, he lets them off the bus first and has even been known to help them off with their shopping, he's by no means the 'perfect' child but to me, manners are everything, he has been told off by elderly people on the bus when he has given his seat up for 'the wrong person', he's damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't, it's no wonder the next generation are so confused, they try to do something good and get rollocked for it.........ok rant over

Could be, I do tend to have a knack for a really meaningful conversation whenever he shows his face, maybe this was his son?

Re: ASDA Rage

I have no ill feeling for ASDA and home delivery. I do my shopping on line each week and order a case of Stella along with the groceries. Three weeks ago I got the invoice with the delivery and they hadn't charged for the 18 cans of 440ml Stella. I told the driver, honestly I did cos my wife made me, and he told me not to bother about it. last week the same happened and so I ordered another this week and lo and behold that was not charged for. each time the list has the quantity and cost of each item but against the Stella is a blank.
I shall continue to order a case each week until they cotton on, I know I will have to suffer and drink it eventually on the few nights I stay in.

Best of luck next time you go to Asda less, you youngsters get some stick don't you,

Re: ASDA Rage

Same happened to me Less but when I come out of ASDA this old fella had actually parked his car with his bumber touching mine.

When I politely asked him why he had parked so close and if he could move so I could see if there were any damage (he had one of them bull bars on to tow things) he told me I should move as I have parked after he did!!!

I then began to get a bit frustrated and ended up getting narky and he eventually moved his car but if they get that confused and forgetful they shouldnt be bludy driving!!!

I used to have an old Beetle and not long after I moved to Hyndburn a little old fella reversed quite hard into my car as I was waiting to park. For those who are unfamiliar with how solid VWs are, Micra vs Beetle is only ever going to go one way but the most startling thing was that he was completely unaware that anything had even happened and drove away with a mangled back end.

There was a thread ages ago about what age people should give up driving and I personally am in favour of some sort of retesting after a certain age. My father-in-law was a driver and gave up of his own accord at 70 because he felt his own response times were getting dangerous.

The thing that really winds me up at Asda (and indeed amazes me in equal measure) is how one person can manage to take up an entire aisle whilst shopping aimlessly. Also, to those who insist on holding their conversations in doorways and by the bay ends, just have a bit of thought for the other shoppers.

Oh, and if you can't afford that box of ice creams then at least have the decency to put it back in the freezer instead of dumping it by the soap powder.

I like Asda and have shopped there all my life but the thoughtlessness of some customers is appalling.

I was due at another meeting shortly afterwards but I simply couldn't stand any more good news yesterday, particularly as all the suggestions that myself and Harry Grayson put forward for Rishton for 2012-2014 were overruled.

Cllr Clarke's suggestion for a fence around Norfolk Street playing field has seemingly been withdrawn from the Rishton plans. Members of Accyweb may remember me apologising about an erroneous statement I made previously on the subject:
