Re: Blackpool Illuminations
So far we've only seen half of them. Went for the switch on and then saw the ones from there up to the north but haven't seen the ones down the south end yet. I think the ones designed by Lawrence Lllewellyn Bowen are lovely.

Was in Blackpool in June, first time in years. Was very disappointed but my sister-in-law was made up. She was over from Oz and wanted to relive her youth so we did Blackpool Tower and the circus, upstairs on the tram in fact just what she wanted to do. She said it was her best holiday for years so that's all that matters.

Re: Blackpool Illuminations
I used to like the ones which you couldn't tell what they were until they were lit and then depending on which ones were in or out they made the pictures. It's not the same with these painted shapes and I don't think the Dr. Who ones are a good likeness which is a shame considering he switched them on.

Re: Blackpool Illuminations
I never go to see the illuminations because when I was a child our family spent many weekends at my great aunt's boarding house in Bispham, and the novelty wore off.
I do travel up the prom on a coach in daylight on my trips to Cleveleys, so I notice any new tableaux. Which is the one desgned by LLBowen? Could it be the one which looks totally blank in daylight - if 'yes' what does it depict when lit?

They are sort of twinkly and have paisley shaped things going across the top. They're near the tower I think if I remember corectly.

Re: Blackpool Illuminations
I still havent found out how someone knicked the Egyption mummy from its coffin a few years ago... Can you just imagine if you had had a few drinks ,, bumping into someone dashing down the tram tracks with it,,,,or trying to put it on a tram... ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
