Boys clubs and free masons

Are the freemasons still around? Do you know of any other elitist groups around Accrington or the world for that matter? Does the boy scouts now allow female members and the girls allow boys? Does sexism still survive in these modern times? Family friendly replies please!

Don't know about the freemasons.. honest I don't... But there are a lot of male or female only clubs but mostly kids as in boys brigade or girl guides.. never really thought of it being sexist TBH

Is freemasons men only then or did I miss the point?

Right. ..I never looked into it enough to know.. certainly never occured to me that it was male only.. I thought it was business orientated which in this day and age lends itself equally to women..

I think working mens clubs have opened there doors to women more.. there where some stragglers that didnt allow women in the snooker room some years ago...

i think (and I stress "think" as I aint sure) but isn't golf a male dominated thing and you ahve to join a womens club to play.. if your a women?

No thats not true anymore but it used to be. I know the Rishton one (has to think if it IS rishton im thinking of) is unisex and has been for quite a while.

Girl guides and boy scouts is still like that but the groups have equal oppurtunities of activities and theyre part of the same association. I think thats just for ease of things rather than being sexist.

Girls can now join the Cubs and Scouts but I don't think boys can join Brownies or Guides.I think it's highly unlikely that any boy would want to be a Brownie or a Guide but you never know.and if it's going to be like that then it should work both ways. It's a bit silly in my opinion. Why couldn't they just leave it as Brownies/Guides for girls and Cubs/Scouts for boys like it used to be? We never had any complaints so if it aint broke don't fix it I say.

What about the Lions? How easy is it to become a Lioness?

I'm Pretty sure that the Lionesses disbanded some time ago through a lack of interest and dwindle Members.
There are women members in the Free Masons has I have a Photo of My adopted Auntie Mum in her chain of office.
