Re: Brain Test

It said I have a very low risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Does that mean I passed?

Just a reminder so you don't forget
Alcohol is supposed to kill brain cells, how many can you spare.
I notice that although 136 have viewed the thread, only six have tried it. Looks like a lot of scaredy cats out there.

I looked at it but didn't take the test........I don't trust tests like these.
I am not sure if I really want to know if I am a candidate for this terrible illness.
There is enough scareifying stuff out there to be worried about.

Re: Brain Test

I took the test though I'm not in the age group, and happily I have a very low risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

Re: Brain Test

I have explored that website and read the 'info for health professionals'
It just confirms the nutritional plan I have been using for the last 3 years -
B vitamins and folate (especially B12)

When I felt I was at death's door a few years ago, I asked for a B12 deficiency test.
They give the result in a figure - mine was 460 which was described as 'fine' so no B12 available from NHS.

The NHS guideline as to whether B12 is supplied is based on the levels which produce pernicious anaemia, which I don't have.
I found that the Japanese regard any level below 1000 needs B12 supplementation.

I imported (at great expence) B12 lozenges which, dissolved slowly next to my gum daily, provide me with a higher dose than those infrequent injections that are given to pernicious anaemia patients.
This, along with other supplements and detoxing heavy metals, and a better diet, has improved my state of health by leaps and bounds.

If this latest research enables GPs to prescribe B12 more readily, I approve.
With cost cutting going on I doubt it will happen.

There is another problem - Codex Alimentarius - whereby some food supplements will be withdrawn from availabily.
I have an 18 months stockpile of the most vital supplements I need. After that who knows?

Re: Brain Test

I have pernicious anaemia and always feel healthier after my 3-monthly injection, and if it keeps Alzheimer's at bay - that's a bonus!

Re: Brain Test

One important detail I learned during my research into B12 deficiency was -
swallowing a B complex vitamin pill is not much good, because the absorption of B12 from the digestive tract is dependant on the patient having an 'intrinsic factor' in their stomach.
Production of this intrinsic factor reduces with age, (and is totally absent in a person with pernicious anaemia.)
The use of acid supressing medication also inhibits absorption.

There are only 2 ways to be sure of getting enough B12 in your system - bypass digestion by -
1 - injection
2 - absorb through the lining of the mouth

When you consider item 2 and explore how it works, you will be more selective about what you put there!
(Of course this means looking at the ingredients of your toothpaste and mouthwash)
