Typical ex-pat statement.
I take it the UK was good enough for you while you were filling up your pension?
I do walk up the streets without being in fear.
Why not come back here and find out what it is really like. Or do you have to stay in Spain in case the try to land snatch you?

Yes it was as was the six years in the Far East....Tax and insurance fully paid up.
I come back 4 or 5 times a year and don't like what I see.
I don't doubt that you have no problem walking down the street but nearing seventy years old I would have to think twice.
I have no fears about land grab....the young lady who owns the property we live in is Spanish.

Oh dear, Oh dear, six years in the far east because you took the shilling, how long ago? Yet you still think it worth a mention, many other people have done similar but since leaving the forces get on with life, try to do the same please.
If you don't like what you see, don't come back, leave it to those off us still here, we can sort it better without your distant superiority.
Good I'm glad your tax & insurance is paid up that means you are entitled to keep being a burden on the NHS over here rather than use Spain's facilities, why should they pay for you?
Now, after your ex-pats growl at the rest of us can we get back on thread,
How much are you prepared to pay for wellies to play with children?
P.S. call me, I miss you!

As for the question regarding kids wellies............strange, very strange.
Before you suggest that I have a mental illness as you did with another member.........think very carefully.

Re: Christmas lights
That really gets my goat, wanting your cake & eating it! The nhs is struggling as it is & personally if u can afford to reside in Spain then u should be able to pay for your treatment there as like the spanish do!!! Creaming the best of both countries is an insult & seriously with the credit crunch & all that, the gov should be looking into that loophole of claiming state here whilst not residing in the country! Even worse is you have the cheek & the audacity to complain about here, lancs & UK! .... my rant done!
Back to thread..... wonder where the funds come from for the lights & firework display ?? out of interest - which is a usually great display they put on every year

I thought you had more sense that get into a debate like this Margaret.
For the record...........I don't claim the winter fuel payment.
Stanleymad...........Do you really know what you are talking about?

Oh dear, wiping me down with your rum sodden brush, kids & wellies, don't tell me you don't remember? You made a reference to it in that post where you insulted another member just for agreeing with me.

Ah, but then it was well past the yard arm for you wasn't? About five hours worth of cheap rum past, looking at the time of your post.
As for mental illness and you, funny you should bring the subject up....
Now that you are on Would you like to buy some second hand Christmas lights, Hyndburn council might sell you some and I could willingly tell you where to put them.
Why don't you just decide that you don't like me and stop trying to show yourself up? Others on here are taking advantage of your attempts at wit and your good humoured approach.

You will continue to get the Winter Fuel payment without the need to claim it
The Pension Service - Winter Fuel Payments - Living abroad
Who can receive a Winter Fuel Payment outside the UK?
If you qualified for a Winter Fuel Payment in the UK, you may be able to continue to receive your Winter Fuel Payment if you move to another European Economic Area (EEA) country or to Switzerland. There are some exceptions to this which are set out below.
The qualifying week this year is the 15 to 21 September 2008. Payments are normally made from November onwards over a period of several weeks. Winter Fuel Payments are usually paid automatically to people receiving a UK state pension. If you do not receive a UK state pension you will usually need to fill in a claim form for the first year you claim a Winter Fuel Payment outside the UK. If your circumstances change again, you should notify us.
