Post Re: Favourite Music

The purpose of the poll was to see which was the preferred decade of music by people on the forum. Not which was the best.
Is there any such thing?

As Tealeaf said, a lot of folk who are posting on here will have had their formative years at some stage during the eighties.

The songs that bring back the memories when we hear them on the radio are often the ones from these formative years, when buying our own records for the first time, going clubbing etc.

A lot of peoples musical preferences will change as they get older anyway, but they still have a soft spot for the music they grew up with.

Each decade's music is only an ongoing progression from what came previously anyway.

Find it interesting though that so many cover songs have been done over the last 20 years, and that classical music has now come so much to the fore.

Post Re: Favourite Music

Still don't get it do you Jason?

This poll seems to say as much about peoples age groups on here as anything. The musical era they grew up with.

Most people like music from all decades even though they have voted for their preference.

Like I said Cazzer, every Decade has had something to offer.
But if your forced to make a choice then people will vote for the decade they grew up with. All just a matter of personal choice.

Post Re: Favourite Music

I like many different types of music from many decades. My vote was cast the way it was because that particular decade holds the best memories for me and was significant to my development and independence. There is a lot of good music out there from all years, there's also a lot of tat. I think that this poll reflects the decade that a lot of us grew up in and is therefore significant to us. It does not mean that music from the other decades is bad. ;D
