"Folks"

Loads of bods on here are increasingly refering to people as "folks"... is this an example of increasing Americanization ...? I know I've done it myself!

Re: "Folks"

The Modern English word "folk", derives from Old English "folc" meaning "common people", "men", "tribe" or "multitude". The Old English noun itself came from Proto-Germanic "*fulka"

Americanism my arse. It's about time you got your folking facts right.

Yes it was a particularly good reply. It should win an award.

Sorry about you spitting beer on your trousers and making it look like you've wet yourself.

Folk have been calling folk folk for donkey's years. The only difference is that Lancashire folk pronounce it 'foke'

Interesting that you used the term 'bod' Mancie. I used to say that a lot at work and one of the bosses asked me where I got it from as he said it was an old RAF term that he hadn't heard elsewhere in civvie street.
