forced rhubarb
Not sure is the good people of Accy web are aware of the plight of rhubarb... forced rhubarb is kept in sheds.. depraved of sunlight.. the rhubarb is forced upwards by small candles that are placed high in these sheds.. this makes the rhubarb grow tall in an attempt to reach the light that they think is sunlight thus producing a tall pink plant.. I say that this pratice is cruel and against all moral standards.... it's akin to giving a scouser hope that they may one day win the Premiership!

Re: forced rhubarb
You on my wavelength Mancie? Come to think of it, I've seen a lot of rhubarb lately, quite prolific in fact and I do worry about the situation.

Re: forced rhubarb
I used to have a Rhubarb doll when I was a child, called Rhigger, though now they are seen as not being politically correct.

Re: forced rhubarb
Barbaric indeed...similar in abhorrence to the cruel practice of forcing the Macamite to spend its entire life burrowing up the middle of the macaroni plant thus giving macaroni a tube like appearance. How would you like to eat the same thing 24/7?

I thought it was a thread about working as an extra, because they say 'Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb' when they are supposed to look like they're having a conversation.

Don't tell that lot in Brussels they will pass a Rhubarb Rights Bill, on the lines of straight cucumbers and bananas.
Talking about scousers, it was so cold last week, they actually seen with their hands in their own pockets.

I suppose The biggest plight for forced Rhubarb is that 90% of it is grown in an area known as the Rhubarb Triangle in Yorkshire. Not sure about the candles heard a rumour they have electricity now
