Giving up smoking!!!!
NOT as easy as it looks lol.
I got up on saturday morning and had my usual morning cig. Afterwards I thought " no that's it I'm giving up" and off to work I went with no ciggies.
Went all day without one, and it didn't really bother me as much as I thought it would.
Next day got up and was gasping, BUT off I went to work no ciggies. Came home at 2pm and was dying for one. Could feel the stress and was very irritable. Went out on sunday night with mate from work and bought myself 10 ( because I just knew I couldn't drink without the odd one)...........did really well and still had some next day left over.
Now kids still think I have given up, so I can't light up in front of them, plus I won't be smoking at work. So all in all I will be right down to about 3 a day.
Today I got up and had a cig when kids went to school. Had another crafty one just before they came home, and just had one now which will be the last one for tonight!
3 a day aint bad to say I used to smoke about 15 a day. And I'm just hoping that even the 3 a day craving will pass soon.

It will be easier when the smoking in public places ban comes in, you won't feel the urge as much when your out having a beer.

Re: Giving up smoking!!!!
Keep it up Slinky. Kids thought i'd given up for years until two years ago my son caught me in duty free buying some, and i thought what the hell. But i must admit my ciggie intake instantly went up when they knew.

Re: Giving up smoking!!!!
Well sometimes the cravings are really bad. But I will wait til the kids have gone to bed, then sneak a ciggie. But if I can't let them see me smoking, then I can't smoke easily cos I always have a ankle biter round my leg at some point during the day. Plus not smoking at work...........like I said Hopefully even the 3 a day will get easier to live without.
Thanks for all you comments. It does make a difference when you hear supportive people.

Re: Giving up smoking!!!!
Well done for trying, keep it up.
Have you thought of contacting Accrington Hospital, they have groups to help you stop smoking. They give you free patches and gum, we know a couple of people who have given up with their help

Re: Giving up smoking!!!!
As you know I smoke, but I wish you lots of luck.
Cutting down to three is a great start.
Stick at it, you can do it.
Plus just think how smug you'll be at the meets come the summer, as you watch all the addicts keep nipping out for a ciggie. How you'll laugh.
Keep with it hun. x

Re: Giving up smoking!!!!
Good Luck Slinks. I hope you succeed in your quest. I got down to between 3 & 5 a day but now i'm back to normal.
it's the stress of living with a mod that did it.
