Grr I'm full of cold!
I've been soooo lucky to not be ill over the last year or so! What are you supposed to DO, when you have a cold-you're not desperately ill, you're not bedridden..But have no energy to do anything!
I'm sneezing every ten minutes, sore throat , I have been really drowsy and I have to use more strength to open a packet of chewing gum, than I normally need to do the gym! Not done any housework or anything productive for two days lol.
It's so annoying! All I've done so far is knock myself out with herbal sleeping pills, rest all day, I have no appetite but made sure I eat something, and now I'm wide awake and can't sleep because I keep coughing and sneezing. Grr.
I know there's no cure and nothing's going to make it worse or better. I might just sit and have a glass of wine and chill myself out until I'm too knackered to be awake any longer!!

Re: Grr I'm full of cold!
Oh Dear........I hope you feel better soon.
Until then, plenty of fluids(I use hot lemon and ginger)...plenty of rest(let the housework go hang) and simple paracetamol for the aches and pains that a cold brings with it.
Inhale steam every couple of hours while you are awake....it will stop the mucus from becoming too thick to get rid, of and steam kills the virus in your nose and throat.
Get better soon.

Re: Grr I'm full of cold!
Snuggle up in bed with a good book that will take your mind off of your condition and into another world . . . highly recommended.

Re: Grr I'm full of cold!
Go to any chemist and ask for some menthol crystals, they are dead cheap, usually under 2 quid, put them in hot water and inhale, but don't put your face too close when you inhale, they are strong and you only need to put a tiny tiny amount in the water, they help me with my asthma when I am struggling to breathe

Re: Grr I'm full of cold!
Flashy is right....menthol crystals are cheap and effective.....you only need two or three crystals in about an inch of boiling water in a cheap plastic jug.
Put your nose into the pouring spout and close the opening of the jug with your mouth and lower half of your face....this method of inhaling mentholated steam means that it doesn't sting your eyes.
If you repeat this every couple of hours during the day, it will clear your head and keep your nose from getting bunged up.
Steam also kills the bugs in your nose and throat.

Re: Grr I'm full of cold!
Stop yer moaning, you're a woman and women are tough they laugh at colds (whilst we men never get them, we get man-flu), if you can't cope with a few germs in your system how are you going to cope with the excruciating pain of childbirth you know, that pain we men wouldn't be able to stand but females of your persuasion like to tell us in great details about.
You want to know pain? I'll give you an example of pain, one man in the presence of six women each one trying to outdo the others with their crutch splitting anecdotes about this particular miracle of life.
I do agree we men wouldn't be able to stand the pain, but then, we don't have to, there is a special type of Homosapien daft enough and keen enough to go through it for us.

Re: Grr I'm full of cold!
Toddies lots of Toddies, they may not cure all ills, but after half a dozen you're to leathered to worry about them.
Hot Toddy Recipe - Allrecipes.com
Personally I'd only use the first 3 ingredients & definitely increase the Whisky quantity.

You've got to add lemon... and don't use a decent whisky.

I don't think you were supposed to eat a quarter of lemon drops all at one go Less.
Didn't they have the sweet sherbet centres?

Hey don't knock it I'd rather eat a pound of sherbet lemons and get my lips pursed for enjoyable action that can be performed, rather than have to listen to the misuse some of you ladies put your crotch through but demand it's all some poor fellas fault.

Less, that ship sailed a long ago.
I would rather have a bag of fudge.
(I have never thought of that activity as a misuse of a crotch before today)

Lol I won't be coping with childbirth for a fact!
Hot toddies are a good idea but I have no whiskey. Only bourbon and vodka. Hmm...Variations!
I am afraid I do whinge when ill.. I am so lucky and it happens so rarely, when I do get ill I get devastated!
I've had to cancel working tonight and tomorrow as well..
Another thing-I must have been delirious last night-I didn't even remember writing this thread!Thank you for all the replies though, I am now a bit cheered up!
