Maybe its just me and please correct me if im being thick but.....
The area of the complete shape is 32.5 when you work it out but the total area of the individual shapes when worked out on their own is only 32. Its pecking my head now, someone please explain lol

The top is 32, the bottom is 33 so together they come to 65 (13*5)

Try printing it out and then cut out the pieces from the top picture, they fit exactly on the bottom picture as it shows.

maybe I'm thick (or just don't get it...stuff like this never was my strong point)but the thing has been put back together differently...the red and the green triangles have been transposed. (now duck and wait for the comments)

seems perfectly obvious, but wouldnt be able to explain it, a combination of moving the four pieces and the orange piece having a longer 'leg' than the green piece.

The smaller triangle is 2x5 ie multiple 2.5 The bigger triangle is 3x8 ie 2.66. Therefore to the human eye the hypotenuse looks straight, but isnt its slightly bent. When organised one way the vertical 8 side of the big triangle pushes it out to the full 8, but the other organisation the smaller side allows a slightly less than 8 number
