Re: Hyndburn/Blackburn boundaries
By 'Blackburn Postcode' do you mean BB1? I used to work in Rishton and I seem to recall having a BB1 postcode.

Re: Hyndburn/Blackburn boundaries
Yes I saw the postal address as being Blackburn when I looked it up in order to phone them to check if the mind Mimi's crowd descending on them for a meal - they don't.

Re: Hyndburn/Blackburn boundaries
This thread is getting sooo funny .. good fun.
The whole of Rishton appears to be in postcode BB1 Willow as is Knuzden.
Have just rung The Redcap. (not Brewers Fayre now .. informed her still in yellow pages under this ... they will get changed .. LOL).
Mmm conversation went a little like this :-
Me: Realise your postcode is Blackburn, electoral wise Hyndburn.
Her: Yes, we are in Hyndburn.
Me: But what town are you actually in... is it Rishton or Oswaldtwistle
Her: Neither, Knuzden.
Me: All Knuzden addresses don't actually mention Knuzden, just Blackburn.
Her: Yes, that's right .. we are in Blackburn.
Me: So if anybody asked you which town the Redcap was in you would say Blackburn even though outside the Parish Boundary.
Her: Yes, that is correct.
Had to leave the conversation at this stage before I wet meself.
Now are we any nearer ? Don't think so.

Re: Hyndburn/Blackburn boundaries
I would say the Red Cap is in Knuzden, which is part of Oswaldtwistle from a Ward point of view. Knuzden is a little weird. It is in Hyndburn as part of St Oswalds ward but comes under Blackburn for its Policing. Well it did. I think even that may have changed as well recently.
Not sure when Knuzden became part of Hyndburn unless it always has been.

Well, my money is now on Knuzden, which is ineffectively Blackburn.
All Rishton and Great Harwood addresses all state the town and then Blackburn, whereby all Knuzden addresses officially only state Blackburn.
Ah well, thanks for the enjoyment everybody .. least found some new sites. x

It can't be because it is in Hyndburn and part of Oswaldtwistle.

Don't you start ... Hyndburn if you voting, Blackburn geographically.. not sure exactly what Parish boundaries mean to a town boundary either.
Suppose we will find out if town councils become a reality .. where will Knuzden fall then ??

It will be part of Ossy. It comes under Ossy Area Council now.
You cant go off postal addresses. I was born in Langho which has a Blackburn postal address and phone number but is well within the Ribble Valley.

Re: Hyndburn/Blackburn boundaries
Yep like Great Harwood. That's postally Blackburn even though it's Hyndburn.
So - the Redcap is in Knuzden as I originally thought, Knuzden just before Intack. We're just left with where is Knuzden?

Well, I reckon that Knuzden is not officially a town and that is why their address if bereft of same and just Blackburn... guess if you lived there it would be officially Blackburn then ! (although not the local authority).
At one time we used to say Nr. Blackburn, but not officially supposed to say that anymore.
