Just read this in tonights observer.........................The observer website has been recognised as one of the best in the country at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The site www.accringtonobserver.co.uk, was highly commended in the best weekly newspaper website category at the newspaper society Awards, effectively putting it among the top three in the uk.
Website editor Lee swettenham: ''i'm delighted that the site has been recognised in this way.
''A lot of work has been put into make it an essential site for Hyndburn folk, both living locally and based all over the world, shown by the fact that tens of thousands of people visit the site each month.
''The site will get a brand new look and some great features in the next few weeks, so it's only going to get better and better for readers''

I have just had a quick look at the Observer Website.......it is very interesting.
I will e-mail the details to my Sister-in-law in Oz......might cure her homesickness.
She's only been over there for 49 years.

Well, she keeps threatening to come back over.....she came over in the winter of 1979 and I think I am still paying off the electricity bill.....she couldn't get warm.
Mind you where she lives the mercury frequently reaches 40degrees.

It certainly is...... but she has forgotten just how cold it can get here.
I was over there with her in March last year and she kept saying she was going to come over here for her birthday (NOV) this year!.......I'm going to buy a stock of damart vests.

Not a patch on the Telegraph site.
The sites got no search facility, no archive, and they ask for feedback but never reply, which is annoying.

only had a quick look at the telegraph one , on the few times ive been on the observer one half the links have been down
