Re: If you don't get out much...
Oh God, that's even more dreary.
They should use it as a promotional film, to attract tourists from dry and arrid desert countries.

I like Rindy's idea better - tourist video for desert dwellers.

Re: If you don't get out much...
Just watched half of the 12 minute video. I found it pretty cool. May be just now being able to watch videos straight through. It's really neat to catch the accent and flavor of Lancashire!

Please don't feel you now have to cancel your planned trip after watching that film...you never know, the sun might be out when you come, and even the tip up Whinney Hill looks pretty when dappled in sunshine.

...Cliff Walmsley's, on the other hand, was quite trendy. Remember getting a pair of two tone cream and black loafers there in 1966. Thought they looked the bees' knees. You're right about Greenwoods' - definitely cardigan and acrylic slacks territory. I wouldn't have been seen dead in there...and I still wouldn't now even though I'm the right age!

Cliff Walmsleys , used to carry great shirts, think he may have been one of the first to sell button down collars (Ben Sherman ? ) , remember buying them on a Saturday afternoon and taking them home and getting my mum to iron them before a night out , My dad would be in his chair checking his coupon and asking how much were that ? I'd tell him , usually adding a couple of quid to the price and he would go ape , "daft ****** , no bloody sense , you should be paying more to your Mam for your board ' etc.. Later I'd catch him checking the thing out and he would say , ' Aye it's a good un tho, bit a quality" ........
