I used to iron my hair between two sheets of brown paper.....it made my hair lovely and shiny.....this was way back in the 70's before straighteners were invented.

I used to section my hair off.....and I could do some of the back but I had to have a bit of help.....and I couldn't iron as far up the back. I didn't worry too much about the back anyway..it wasn't as kinky and Hell....I couldn't see it anyway.

I have heard of people doing this years ago. Thank God for GHDs these days.

You can iron your hair between sheets of brown paper but only if it's long enough and you can't iron close to you head. My mother used to iron hers before straighteners were invented.

Re: iron your hair?

Well my daughter will kill me for telling you this but a few years ago she had very long hair and time after time of me sorting things out she always seemed to catch nits from school....she wouldnt have her hair cut and it was getting beyond a joke, (was I the only mother to care and try and get rid?) One day she said to me "mum can I have some hair straightners"? I jokingly said yeah sure theres some in the other room , meaning the iron lol...so off she went and started ironing her hair!...the iron is a perfect cure for getting rid of the little critters!, so all you mothers out there, dont be bothering with lotions and potions....get the iron out!...shes never had them since! Oh and btw she now uses GHD
