Moles (the 4-legged type)
Was fascinated last week by the Molecatcher at a friend's farm over Ossy.
He was an apprentice (I think.. looked about 16 .. but very cool). Friend had a field full of mole hills, and he caught three whilst I was there. They were sooo beautiful, (as he grabbed them out off his combat trousers) but didn't have much sentimentality towards them. He obviously was quite fond of them even though he was the source of their demise.
Was paid £2 per mole and, traditionally, hung them on a fence at the end of the path. Went on to other farms to capture more. Seems would have to go some to make a decent living, but being a town girl, was captivated by this occupation.
Seems if they get into allotments cause lots of damage. As a town girl, found this rural occupation mind blowing. Had some couple of years ago on my very small lawn, he explained because I was on the edge of a lodge, would be lots of worms.
Just impressed me that's all. Different world.
