My Bedroom Guest
I still have my uninvited guest in the bedroom, the red admiral butterfly. I would have taken a picture of the lodger to post on here if the thieving Sony gits didn't still have my camera
I've grown quite attached to it now but I need some advice from other pet butterfly enthusiasts please.
How do I sex it to see if it's a Norman or Phyllis and what do butterflys eat?

Well you lot were no help lol! I've found the information I was looking for.
Sounds like the butterfly can stay. They don't pee, pooh or eat and most importantly ......... they don't snore!!

Re: My Bedroom Guest
Did actually look it up when you mentioned before Tinks .. think they only survive in UK around 10 weeks, so you are lucky and please don't let it out ... it will surely perish.
Bet you got to talking to it now, haven't you .. least won't answer you back . hope Mthead doesn't get too jealous or its days could be numbered

Re: My Bedroom Guest
My little sweetie passed away on Christmas Eve (thankfully, what do you get a butterfly for Christmas ) . I'm presuming it was an owd sod living for so many months!! Thanks to the wonders of the internet I found out that Ralph was actually a tortoise butterfly not an Admiral

Re: My Bedroom Guest
Sorry to hear that Tinkerbelle, the passing of little 'it'. Can you not do one of those picture thingies that were popular once, stuck on a pin and framed .. would be a lovely memorial .. not sure how you preserve them though.
Or has it by now just been flushed down the great sewers and out to sea.

Re: My Bedroom Guest
I don't know how it's done katex or I probably would.
No it's not been flushed away or anything, it's still on the lavender cushion that it enjoyed resting on.
Might have a quick look on t'internet for a crash course on taxidermy

Re: My Bedroom Guest
I don't think you need to taxiderm an insect. Don't you just let them dry out?
