Neither a lender or a borrower be....

Can anyone who's borrowed stuff off me please get it back to me.

I'm happy to lend anyone anything they need, in fact, I'll happily take stuff round to people to help out but I think it's down to the borrower to make the effort to do the returning.

Thanks

I've told you before, you're too generous!

Offering your hubby to help put up a shelf is all very well, but when they've kept him for over a week, that's taking the Micky.

I'll send him back later, promise.

Seriously, it is certainly up to the borrower to make the effort to return any items. They shouldn't need to be reminded, and chased up.

I've lost so many dearly loved books, to people who promised to look after, and return them.

It drives me mad, and shows very bad manners.

The quickest way to lose a friend is to borrow or lend.
I've always thought people who say can I borrow it, actualy mean give it me. I don't borrow or lend any thing. When people say can I look at that, I say yes and hold on to it, if they reach out for it, they get told your eyes are in you head not your hands.

I think she is referring to the under wear you keep stealing from her washing line

Buy your own shorts, Chris has nothing left to wear

Retlaw.
I agree with that Retlaw, many years ago, a relation through marriage came into my local, had never seen him in there before. Turned out the bailiffs were calling at his home the day after to repossess a stereo system unless he came up with £12 and asked could I lend it him until the following week, no problem I said. Next week has never come and on the odd occasion I have seen this chap he's made a fast exit stage left

There's an old adage about this:

'If someone asks to borrow £20 and you never see them again, it was probably worth it.'

Of course, you're £20 down on the deal but it's no bad thing having the occasional spring clean of fairweather friends. At 32, some people may say that I'm prematurely cynical but I'm happy in the knowledge that I have four or five true mates who look out for me as much as I look out for them.
