this may of been discussed before, i think its a marvelous idea if they ever get round to it

too late for mine, however, they both seem set on further education anyway

I think it would have to be tailored to a certain extent..eg. if a child has a chance of a modern apprentiship I don't think they should be made to stay at school..

my other concern are the ones that are desperate to leave by 14 and just doss about until they can leave with no qualifications... is it worth making them stay till 18 and maybe ruin it for others

Wow, most Americans are 18 when they finish high school. I believe they can drop out at 16 with parental permission. Before that I believe it is against the law to not have your kids in some type of schooling.
