I love Marmite but somehow it doesn't seem right for Paddington. I was just hoping it wasn't the do-gooders banning poor old Paddington from eating Marmalade because it's not good for children or something!

Why do people have to fix things that are not broken?

I have just baked a malt loaf in my bread machine - it takes 3 tablespoons per 2lb loaf (+3 of black treacle) - wish they made bigger size than the 500g.
I dont like it on toast though.
Australians call it Vegemite - that Aussie couple I met in late 70s were passionate about it.

I'll have to try that. I didn't realise marmite went into malt loaf. Must get my bread maker out.

(cue wry laughter from Busman)

Re: Oh no Paddington!!!! What have you done!

Marmite has much less sugar content (therefore better for dental hygiene) and uses far less carbon miles, this monumental change in Paddington Bear's carbon footprint could save Planet Earth!

Re: Oh no Paddington!!!! What have you done!

They have taken the beef out of Bovril so it has the same ingredients as Marmite
New vegetarian formulation for Bovril brand

Not the Bovril I buy they haven't !
They put it back in some time last year and mine proudly says " Beef" on the front and 43% beef stock on the ingredients label.

I know I shouldn't have opened this thread again. I'm starting to crave marmite now.
