I watched Carl Sagan on a series of BBC Royal Institution lectures one christmas in the 70's, because there was nothing else to watch, his delivery totally blew me away and gave me a love of science and the unknown that school never did.
In 1990 Voyager 1 from 4 billion miles away sent back a rear view photo...
In 1994 Carl Sagan gave a lecture at Cornell, he mused on the pale blue dot on that photo, the rest is history....today would have been his 78th birthday

Have to admit that Sagan turned a lot of folks onto science and to interest in the universe in general. I enjoyed his "Cosmos" immensely. Still go back to it every now and again. As J. B. S. Haldane stated: "My own suspicion is that the Universe is not only queerer than we suppose but queerer than we can suppose."
