Retlaw,
Yes, that is the one. Must be having a senior moment as I can't think where it could now be - it will surface in time when I am looking for something else.

I have at last found the Albert book - "Albert, 'arold and Others" - and also a bedraggled copy of the music sheet - "The Pigtail of Li Fang Fu"

Did you manage to get a replacement for Albert, 'arold & Others? If you didn't i will either scan you a copy or bring the book over with me next week and get it coied there.

Also came across a book entitled "The East Lancashire Regiment 1855-1958" compiled by John Downham - part of The Images of England series. Do you have a copy? I could lend it to you for the couple of weeks that I am in Accrington - let me know.

Re: Albert And The Lion

I once had a letter from Stanley Holloway in which he told me he had never been to Blackpool.

On one of his CDs, Bernard Wrigley, 'the Bolton Bullfrog' recites a follow-up which he has written about Albert's grandson coming to Blackpool, becoming inebreated, (that's my phrase) and visiting the zoo. very funny.

I liked Stanley Holloway doing 'Three ha'pence a Foot'. and another of my favourites was 'The 'Ole in the Ark'.......my grandad used to warm his backside by the fire and he used to recite this to tell us why men do this.

Aaah, yes. That brings back memories of my Grandad warming his backside in front of a roaring fire. Thank you!
