Scabies in Hyndburn Schools

Norden have had an 'outbreak' of scabies over the last two weeks and i've just read on The Rhyddings website that there is a couple of cases there too, someone also mentioned Accrington Academy and St Christophers have it going around n'all but i don't know if thats fact or not

just a warning to keep an eye on your kids and advise them not to get too close to other kids

Re: Scabies in Hyndburn Schools

Ridiculous having to tell kids to stay away from other kids because of outbreaks like this in 2012..scabies,nits and such were almost destroyed by good houskeeping from the NHS and local councils, government cuts in these areas are starting bite and itch.

Scabies is transmitted by close personal contact...like sleeping together...or in the same bed as someone who has the infestation....so normal contact at school should not be a problem(unless these blighters have mutated and found another way to be passed on).
The cases in these schools may be members of the same family(with several families across the borough being affected)....and eradication is simple.(hot bath and a scrub down with benzyl benzoate - paying extra attention to body cracks and crevices).

Yuk! Do they still have "nitty Nora" going round schools these days?

nope...and the nit problem is much much worse that the problem of scabies. (worse in that, it is far easier to catch head lice than scabies)
I am sure that there are some parents who do not regularly check their childrens head for head lice......because if they did...and of course acted when they found infestation...there would be fewer of the Head Lice Alert notices sent out to parents.
