Sleeping Partner ?

Bet ya' all thought was going to be a more interesting thread

Just a little thing I heard on the news today, which is sad, but made me laugh.

Seems this guy on a BA flight in 1st Class woke up to find a dead body at the side of him and only found out she had passed away by remarking to the Stewardess that 'the lady didn't look terrible well' ...

Seems they had moved the poor soul from economy to 1st to negate less distress to the majority of passengers .. but you think they would have woken this guy up to ask his permission, wouldn't you ?

Re: Sleeping Partner ?

This is stupid of BA. The guy paid £3,000 to have a dead body next to him and the dead womans daughter crying for the rest of the flight (she had very good reason to, not having a go at her) When he returned home and rang BA to complain they told him to "Get over it"

Thats me not going 1st class on BA.... ever!!!!

Re: Sleeping Partner ?

The very least they could have done would have been to waken the guy and explain to him. It's not exactly BA's fault that the tragedy occurred but their handling of it could have been a bit more sensitive.

Re: Sleeping Partner ?

Looks like BA need to get their house in order yet again. That was no way to treat a recently deceased person.

Well difficult I suppose Spuggie, what would they have done with her? Space is paramount on an aircraft, put her in the cargo hold which is possibly inaccessable during flying (don't know this actually), sat her in the flight deck next to the Captain? Feel more sorry for the passenger .. he has to live with the memory, would have freaked me out, I can tell you.

Seems only about 10 people per year die on flights, however, no matter how small and uneconomical they feel it is, should have better arrangements for 'all' concerned. The poor daughter.

Re: Sleeping Partner ?

the guy could have shown some class and given his seat up to the upset Daughter and moved back into the now vacant seat back in cattle class

Re: Sleeping Partner ?

We once had a dead person on our flight.........Tenerife to Exeter. The poor chap started getting ill over mainland Spain and we fully expected to be diverted to Madrid. Oxygen bottles were passed back and forth but it was too late. To make matters worse, they had to make an emergency landing. Paramedics, ambulances, fire engines, helicopters.............so scary. It took me ages before I was brave enough to fly again.

I can't see what else they could have done. What do you suggest?

Maybe he was too shocked when he woke to think of doing that. He may well have thought of it later on reflection.

I do think the onus was on the airline staff to have a word with him.
