Smile Smart Christmas 'Solutions'.

Just read this in the Private Eye as submitted by readers."The single source solution for Christmas shopping"-shop, "Amazon Home and Garden great Christmas Gift solutions"-Presents, "Morrisons wrap solutions"-wrapping paper,"Planet Persuits Corporate Days:Christmas Solutions"-office parties, "Hobbycraft Solutions for Displaying Your Christmas Cards"-ribbons and bluetack,"Kria Yoga's Christmas Message:Peaceful Global Solutions"-peace on earth. Is it not funny how people play with words?

Now there's a blast from the past ,haven't seen a copy of 'Private Eye ' for years , is it still as irreverent as I remember it during the 60/70s ?
I remember the local paper chap taking my Mother aside when she went in to pay for the papers and asking her if she knew what her son was having delivered to the house , I guess he thought it was a tad subversive especially editions with HM the Queen on the cover .

Yes it's a bi weekly, a must read for anyone wanting the truth or as near as you get steeljack, the problem 'newcomers' have with 'eye' is that for litigation purposes it has its own language, I posted this thread on General Chat someone moved it here god only knows why' explanation please' it's just good manners to let one know why?

yep I remember most of the Royals and top Tories all had 'second names ' who was Brenda ? was that the Queen or her sister Princess Margaret ?
I think Willie Rushden and Richard Ingrams were in on the start ,also Barry Humpfries (sp) had a hand in there somewhere
Yep agree with you this should be in general chat

Re: Smart Christmas 'Solutions'.

The Eye is a real scream nobody is safe from it, Mrs Thatcher was called Tina, that stood for 'there is no alternative' her husband was called 'Bill,' they had a centre spread called 'Bill's letter' where they took the mickey out of Maggie through him. Tony Blairs collumn is called the 'Parish Weekly Magazine' he is called the Reverend Tony, who pontificates on all and sundry. Even Bill Goldsmith tried many times to shut it down through litigation he did not succeed, the subscribers always raised a fighting fund to save it. You can recieve it mail order with a 12 monthly payment if you are interested I will PM you with the address. regards, Ian.
