The Joys Of Frozen Food
No, I don't mean the convenience of going the local supermarket and buying frozen peas or corn.
I mean the adventurous excitement that comes from feeling lazy, not bothered about making a meal but instead digging deep into the freezer and finding something you made months ago.
Of course it has now become a mystery you didn't label it (even if you had, the label by now would have dropped off and be stuck to some other mystery you cooked several months earlier).
So, a plastic container, semi transparent giving a hint that it's some sort of brown stew, the fact that you don't remember making a brown stew doesn't prevent you from continuing with the adventure, it adds to the excitement.
Six minutes in the microwave and...
you've thawed the outside edges, (must adjust the thermostat on the freezer only Brian Cox understands absolute zero it shouldn't be part of my life).
Another six minutes and...
your tasting an over seasoned pile of mush, the meat seems to be some sort of pork, the veg has turned into a paste that sticks to your cutlery.
half way through you vow that you will throw the remaining mystery containers away and clean out the freezer.
But then, you finish your 'meal' belch once take up a horizontal position on the settee, remove some of the mystery meat from your teeth and think, yeah well there will be other days like today, think I'll save whats left for the future and just fall asleep in front of the television.
