They are taking over! Not many of our native little reed chaps left these days.

Re: unseen
I had a sweet little experience a few years ago when I was quietly watching a squirrel digging up some of its little store of acorns. It took one inside a hole in a tree and then came scuttling back, got another one, ran over to me, dropped it at my feet and then scuttled off.

My first sister-in-law lived next to it -I remember visits there with pleasure - glad to know the place is still preserved, along with the natterjack toads? (not quite so appealing)

Re: unseen
I just had to go up to Rossendale General and while i was walking back down there was 4 bunny rabbits on one side of the road, another on the other side and a squirrel ran across the road in front of me. Also saw a baby bunny running into the blackberry bushes.

Re: unseen
I saw a grey one driving back through Hapton last Saturday. It had no idea of the green cross code. How do I get the remnants of fur from my tyres

Re: unseen
We are over-run with grey squirrels here, they run along the fence-tops and pinch bird food from gardens. I sometimes put nuts out on the patio for them but they'll only take them early in the morning. At Dunham Massey, a National Trust house and grounds near Altrincham and only a couple of miles from me, they are so tame they will take food from your fingers. They sit next to the path leading to the house and wait to be fed.
I can't remember the last time I saw a red squirrel but when I was first married and lived out in the country, in Rutland, there were lots of them. Such a shame they have been replaced by the greys in so many places.
