Cool What happened next?

Now that we have crossed the threshold into a brand new year I thought it was time to get rid of the alcoholic fug and agitate the brain cells a bit with this tale, which is probably the shortest ghost story ever told.

The last person alive on Earth sat alone in his room.

What happened next?

His mobile 'phone went off and a pre-recorded message told him he had won a fantastic prize, all he had to do was ring a 0191 number to claim it.

Unfortunately the credit on his pay as you go ran out at that point!

I think you'll find that none of the great classics start off straight on the main theme of the story, there has to be some background description to let the readers know what sort of person they are dealing with.

Cool Re: What happened next?

Ah! But this isn’t a classic Less. It’s probably the shortest ghost story ever written.

The Cracked Mirror.

The last person alive on Earth sat alone in his room.
He looked into the mirror, and discovered he wasn't alone.
'Spooky' he thought.

Cool Re: What happened next?

Good garinda but not quite what I had in mind.

OK! Maybe it is a bit too early after the night’s festivities to get some brains working. So here it is.

The last person alive on Earth sat alone in his room.
There was a knock on the door!

I'm confused. It could be a dog knocking.
