Why Is Changing A Duvet Such Backbreaking Work?

Just that no other question, once every four or five months we all have to do it.
But, does anyone know an easy way to get thirteen togs worth of uncompliant insulation material into a smaller space than is created by the gravity of a black hole?
Commonly known as it's cover?

For the past I don't know how many years I have been receiving instruction on the fitting of duvet covers and the folding of fitted sheets - so far I have failed to achieve any success. I don't get asked to do it very often - success.

Interesting Margaret but I think I'll carry on letting my cleaner change mine.
After peeping into my bedroom while she changed the duvet cover I came to the conclusion that she's some sort of contortionist.

Interesting I might try that in a year or so when it needs changing again, though I prefer the idea of having someone else doing it.

Yes...well of course getting someone else to do it is the very best option, but for those of us who are constrained by budgetary influences(by that I mean no dosh) then this is by far the second best option.
You need to practice more Less.

My duvet cover is in the washer spinning round right now. I normally put the same one back on when it is dry..but today i might have to dig into the linen cupboard to find an alternative.

I generally grab a corner of the duvet, and shove it inside the cover up into its appropriate corner, then repeat with the other three while grabbing hold of the first corner so it doesn't shift. A brisk shake up and usually it all falls into place - unless Miss Pris the mischievous moggy gets involved, then it's chaos!

I hope you don't think I was being pretentious when I suggested getting someone else to change the cover.
I'm not a very domesticated male and I think a tenner a week for an hour and a half cleaning my home is a little luxury I can afford.
I can fold fitted under sheets though.

not at all Russell....but I could not justify it for myself...especially as I am fit and able...if the time came where (for whatever reason) I could not, then perhaps I would do the same.
You are giving someone a much needed boost to their finances and adding to the local economy.
I do not have any fitted sheets. Hospital corners are so ingrained in me(I could do them in my sleep) that I can do nothing else and when you use that method fitted sheets are unnecessary.

I have fitted sheet underneath Margaret but hospital corners on the top sheet.
My late wife was a dab hand at hospital corners and taught me well.
She worked for LCC for twenty years in a care home.
