And yes I have been wiring my own home.
I'm not a qualified electrician, but I do know how to.
Your supposed to inform LABC if you replace a ring yourself, but you dont have to if your replacing a damaged bit of cable. you can damage all the bits of cable on the ring & replace them without notifying.
You can replace sockets yourself anyway.
Part P is a farce & can easily be got around for most of it, the rest most people are ignoring as there have not been any prosecutions of a DIYr ignoring it yet.
BUT... dont take what I am saying as carte blanch for anyone to mess with your electrics, its dangerous stuff & if you dont do it right you can cause some serious problems.
