Studying Childcare?

My girlfriend really wants to go to college and study childcare. The problem is i work 9-5 monday to friday and there would be nobody to look after our little one (dont want to use nurserys or child minders yet). So we were wondering is there a night/evening course at either accy or blackburn college. Or is there any way to get the relevant qualifications. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Re: Studying Childcare?

i did it in burnley, 5ish years ago... if she speaks to sure start they will be able to tell her how to sign up...she could also see about a volentary job with sure start because they train you up and would put little one into theis creche, its only for a couple of hours and she will be in the same building as him.. best thing to do, since your little one is very young is to speak to your family support at sure start....

Re: Studying Childcare?

half asleep here... forgot to say that you can do the nvq on a night course (again, i only know about burnley) but thats for ppl that have jobs already.. btecs and nvq need you to go out on work placement which is obviously during school time, when your working.. imo childminding is the best option at the mo, i did it because i didnt want my lad in childcare when he was little and it worked really well for me...
