Work experience wanted

Hiya, wondered if there was anyone out there that can help with this.

My son is 17 years old in 6th form at Clitheroe Grammar and needs to do two weeks work experience at the end of Aug, beginning of Sep this year.

With it being sixth form they are told they really need to find work experience in something similar to what they may look for in a future career.

He is looking for something in either journalism or history based but will be grateful of all ideas of people to approach.

Lancashire Telegraph has already been booked and the observer doesn't offer work experience placements anymore, he has applied to newspapers further afield but with few responses and the ones that have can't offer him anything.

Thanks in advance

Not exactly what he is looking for, but maybe the library would let him do his work experience, I've known them take work experience in the past but not sure if they still do so.

All good suggestions . The Herald, Haworth Art Gallery, etc., lady on here has been asking re. suggestions of what would be the best way to set up a small freeby ... maybe she may be interested in having a bright attractive young lad on board for a couple of weeks.

Failing all this, I would suggest that he sets himself up as a freelance journalist for a couple of weeks, working on a couple of stories/interests (maybe history) .. submit to a paper and do an essay on his experiences in this field.

Could even try printing works .. has to learn how a paper gets into print.

The local football club are in need of somebody with some talent in the media department.

I'm sure you have one or two contacts there!!

August is quite a good time for stories at a club!!

Well I know what came to my mind straight away. Libraries. They have archives of local newspapers normally and that fits into journalism and history... maybe something on those lines?
