Fountains - there going!

A local paper today reports that the "litter-choked" fountains, outside Hyndburn Council's headquarters, are finally to go! Work is said to have begun and the area has been sealed off with safety fencing. They have put in several pipes which will drain the water, then they will fill the fountains with about a foot of stone in preparation for the soil to go on. Then they will put planters in ????????
Apparently during the Borough's 30th celebrations (er, why do we have to celebrate 30 years?) there is to be a workshop when the public can attend and give their ideas as to what can go there.

Can WE, on Accy Web, come up with any good ideas?

The photo shows the site of the where the fountains once stood.

Maybe if the council spent more money on youth clubs there would be less hassle with the kids. Maybe the springhill area to start with, as this seem's to be where there is a lot of bother with the teenagers.

Those fountains have never worked properly. It isn't just a litter problem, they get full of green slime too when the water stagnates. I noticed the mesh fencing round there today. Not before time.
