Part 1.Here we go, later than planned, Today in Pictures.
1. Along the canal to Riley's Swing bridge.
2. And there it is.
3. Mooching around an area I think was the air raid shelter site, opposite the swing bridge.
4. Down a smelly bit of the footpath, and onto an unused bit.
5. Well, what a mess.
6. Off the footpath, and towards the lights at junction 7, this is a field off to the right adjacent the slip road to the motorway.
7. Down the dip to the paper mill.Field off to the left.
Part 2. Today in Pictures.
8. At the start of Clayton Fields Trail.
9. Remains of a stone slab fence.
10. Hyndburn Brook as it travels past the shooting range.
11. Looking across to Gt. Harwood from the farm.
12. And there we are "up" Checkers, back on the canal, and home
You put me to shame with your knowledge of wild stuff.
Well apart from my mum's knowledge when I was young, I lived in the depths of the country, virtually in the middle of a field, for 18 years till 2000. I learnt quite a lot about wild flowers then.

Are there many peacocks on Hyndburn Road, Margaret?
Its due to the tropical climate we enjoy in Hyndburn, we are mucked up with peacocks, they are a bit of a pest really, and lets not talk about the flocks of parrots
I don't know, but I have heard them calling when I have been going to Lidl....so there must be at least two of them........and if I remember rightly Less put something on the forum about the noise and the nuisance that cause.
They might be a nuisance, but they are really beautiful.
I went to Leeds castle and I followed the peacocks around trying to get one to display his magnificent tail feathers for me......to no avail. And I go and capture this picture in Accrington......maybe this should be in 'ood a thowt it'.

6. Off the canal and through the Petre Industrial Estate.
7. Back onto Blackburn Road passed the gate to Narnia.
8. Down passed the roundabout.

Great pics .... love 'em ... spent a lot of time in Mercer Park as a kid ... my grandad once told me that the angel on the memorial was pointing the way to the bog A tad disrespectful, maybe, but my grandad didn't seem to think so. That's my grandad as my avatar ... I suppose a wounded veteran of the Somme and Paschendale is allowed a little levity.
I thought about you yesterday Eric....as I was walking past the houses on Charles St......and down the fields towards Rishton bottoms.
I wondered what you would make of it now.
Glad to hear that you are enjoying Davemacs ramblings(I mean the walks) and pictorial evidence.
Great pics Dave...again!

I wonder which bog was the one being pointed to, you cant find them anymore, they have all been knocked down.

I prefer to think of them as meanderings for a wondering mind. Or an attempt to look "Windswept and Interesting, but just managing "Bedraggled and Gormless.
